Hello.
Do you have any information regarding a bug that occurred on November 1 affecting Fastly’s caching CDN servers in Central and Eastern Europe?
As you may know, Steam utilizes three CDN services: Cloudflare, Akamai, and Fastly. While the first two appear to be functioning properly, we have encountered issues with Fastly for users in Central and Eastern Europe since November 1.
The problem pertains to the store.css file, which is distributed across 29 language versions.
Unfortunately, three language versions — Turkish, Ukrainian, and Russian — are inaccessible from Fastly’s caching servers when accessed from Central and Eastern Europe.
For example, when attempting to retrieve the store.css file in Russian, Ukrainian, or Turkish from Moscow (Russia), users receive the error:
- Timed out while waiting on cache-fra-eddf8230110-FRA
When trying to access the Russian version from St. Petersburg (Russia), the error is:
- Timed out while waiting on cache-hel1410020-HEL
When requesting the Turkish version from Bucharest (Romania), the error encountered is:
- Timed out while waiting on cache-fra-etou8220074-FRA
Similarly, accessing the Russian version from Bucharest (Romania) results in the error:
- Timed out while waiting on cache-fra-etou8220130-FRA
We are also seeing comparable issues in:
Prague (Czech Republic)
Frankfurt and Leipzig (Germany)
Almaty (Kazakhstan)
These issues exclusively affect the loading of files in Turkish, Ukrainian, and Russian. All other 26 languages load without any problems.
Have you heard anything regarding this issue?
