Using Fastly for Observing Unique Visitors?

Hey all!

Does Fastly’s free plans give you metrics for unique visitors?

This is partly related to a previous post:

I want to log traffic, for my own domain, that points to a static site, hosted using GitHub pages.

  • I do not want to use services like google analytics, as my audience is small, or are using ad-blockers.
  • I do not want to host a server, as that is costly and unnecessary.
  • I currently don’t want to do anything other than write simple markdown that gets deployed every commit.

I’ve since learned that I can achieve this with Fastly and Cloudflare.

However I noticed with cloudflare, it gives you metrics for unique visitors under the free plan.

Does this functionality exist within Fastly?

This isn’t something we have an off-the-shelf dashboard for, but with the volume of logging variables available to you, it might be an easy option to build on your end. Log streaming | Fastly Documentation
