Trial (testing) account limits

Hello there!
I’ve created a Fastly account to test the integration with Magento for implementing full-page caching (FPC) using Fastly.

Everything is working well except for stale content serving. I’ve configured it to serve stale content (while fresh content is being fetched) for up to 30 days — specified in seconds, of course.

However, I noticed that while some invalidated cache objects are still served from stale, many others are not (I see x-cache: MISS for such requests even though I sent the same requests couple of hours ago)

This makes me wonder:

  • Are there any storage or object size limits applied to trial accounts?
  • Or should I double-check my stale content configuration for potential issues? I already did that, in fact

There are no limits on caching for new accounts, but there is also no guarantee that any specific object will stay in the cache for the maximum time specified. Objects may be evicted for many reasons, since the cache is shared across most sites served by Fastly, and if other sites have more cache objects which are accessed more frequently, less-frequently-used objects will be evicted.

The time periods you specify in configurations are maximums, they are not guaranteed lifetimes.

Thank you for your response,
But is this the case when the account is upgraded to " Usage" package ? or the there will be cache guaranteed lifetime ?

Generally, no. The only way to have guaranteed cache lifetime is to purchase a Cache Reservation package, which is designed for high-traffic sites and is correspondingly costly

I couldn’t find pricing info related to “Cache Reservation packages” on the pricing page: Edge cloud pricing
Could you please advise on pricing of this? and how is it calculated

There aren’t any members of our sales team here in the forum, so you won’t be able to get pricing information here. The description of the product is here, but for any further information you’ll need to talk to the Fastly sales team.
