When the Python SDK for Fastly Compute was released, it was an ‘early adopter’ release with a minimal set of installation and usage instructions.
Today we’re happy to announce that the Python SDK has reached full beta status, with support in the Fastly CLI (version 15.6.0 or later), a ‘default’ starter kit, a developer guide, and some usage examples. Customers can now create Python-based services in the Compute platform the way they do for all of our other supported languages using fastly compute init, without any extra steps required (other than installing uv, which is a requirement for the Python SDK).
As the Python SDK grows in the future, supporting more features of the Compute platform, the Fastly Developer Experience team will be working alongside to ensure that those features get the same level of documentation and tooling support as our other Compute SDKs.
