C2PA support enhancements available for all Image Optimizer customers

Content provenance is gaining momentum for AI-generated images with new laws and regulations popping up and consumer demand for brand trust.

To address this, we previously released support for C2PA metadata passthrough in Image Optimizer. Today, we are opening it up to all IO customers without the need for Fastly to enable it, expanding support across all supported image types (except JPEG XL), and updating C2PA support to the latest spec (2.4). And this is still a free feature!

What can C2PA in Image Optimizer do for you?

The tricky part with C2PA is that resizing, reformatting, or optimizing an image can strip its metadata, which is a problem when your pipeline exists to transform images. Image Optimizer solves this with C2PA pass-through built into the transformation path, so the manifest travels with the image and gets re-signed with the transforms our systems make.

If you’re on Image Optimizer, check the metadata documentation to put it to work. For more details, check out our recent blog.
