Automatic gzipping with ESL

#1

Hi Fastly Team,

first, http/2 is more importend. We can’t wait.

We have an element we need to gzip, but would like to embed with ESI too. Do you plan to include GZIP+ESI Support from version 3.0. https://www.varnish-cache.org/docs/3.0/phk/gzip.html ?

Kind regards
Malte

We would also be interested in this.

Presumably there should really be a way to cache the uncompressed version and compress as we serve to customers? Appreciate this would likely place additional load on Fastly, but at the moment, it’s quite restrictive to have to give up GZIP on all our HTML requests.

Hi! Just an FYI: our HTTP/2 support is now in LA. Learn more about it here: https://www.fastly.com/blog/announcing-limited-availability-http2
