The domain I intended to register for my service is already in use.
I contacted Fastly support via email , I was told to create a DNS TXT record for the apex domain. it will take approx 1-3 days back and forth then only i can add the domain to my service.
I have 2 suggestions for implementation that can help speed up this whole lengthy process:
If a host is added to a service even if it is owned by other customer , generate a random DNS record for verification and once verified the ownership of domain will be moved to the specific service
Add an AI bot that checks support email for such/similar requests. Auto-replies them with unique DNS record for verification, every 15 minutes it checks if DNS record for that domain exist or not by comparing . If it exist then it will release the domain
Basically i added DNS record to my domain to verify domain ownership so the domain can be released but i was told to create a support ticket using the email address of customer who owns the domain?
This is ridiculous. What if someone has taken my domain and i want to get it back? I even added DNS record to domain lol
You’ll be happy to know that we’re in the process of releasing some major upgrades to our domain handling, and some of the issues you ran into have already been resolved! The ‘versionless domain’ feature that became available a couple of weeks ago ( About domains | Fastly Documentation ) provides the sort of functionality you are looking for, and also addresses the long-standing problems related to a domain being listed in multiple customer accounts at once.
